This past week in class we examined the data collection process through the use of illustration. We created hand drawn “postcards” based on data that we were able to recall from our previous day. This activity was challenging for me because I had previously not considered drawing to be an effective way to illustrate data collection and this specific task asked me to recall events exclusively from memory. Ultimately I found the exercise to be useful as it prompted me to take a new perspective on the data that I interacted with throughout the course of my day. The snapshot that I documented on my postcard was such a small moment of my day, but one that stuck vividly in my mind while working through this exercise that normally might not have stuck out to me if I had to document the data in another way.
